A paired experiment: Leaving feedback

In last week's lecture Shane posed three questions that the class had to work in pairs to answer. We had to ask each other about leaving feedback on a website, or leaving a review. My partner stated that she had never left feedback before in any shape or form, the thought of doing this never appealed to her and it had never crossed her mind. On reflection of this train of thought, she then remembered a time she most definitely should have left feedback. She ordered a dress online and when it arrived she thought it was awful and didn't fit the description that was given on the website she bought it from. Instead of doing something about it she simply passed the dress on to her friend.

MIT App Software and "HelloPurr"

Friday mornings class was good, but getting there is a problem. I will almost always be a little late due to my commute, unless I get a bus at 5 a.m!
Today we used the MIT app builder to create a practice 'app' for means of creating the final app for our group project. Te software itself is really easy and simple to use and I picked it up straight away.

The first app is called "HelloPurr" and it is a basic app that allows the user to touch a picture of a cat, and the app will then respond with a sound of a cat "Meowing|. After I successfully created the app I went on to try more difficult creations, but class time ran out and I wasn't apple to complete "Space Invaders".

This was a great and informative class and I'm excited for next week's lab.
E-mail to myself of completed app.

Class Experiment: A Day without Social Media

In Wednesday the 28th of January's class, Shane proposed a class experiment. That was to spend a full day without social media, no Facebook no Whatsapp no twitter no nothing. Challenge accepted. I'm not a huge social media user, it was in fact going to university that led me to start using social media again. In 2013, I spent nearly an entire year without using it and was more than content with myself. Today the only social media I regularly use are Whatsapp, Facebook and Snapchat. I do have a Twitter but I don't use it. I have a Tumblr but as well, I don't use that either. There's probably a number of other social networking sites that I actually have accounts on but none of them are used by me. I spend most 'hangover Sundays' not using social media anyway, so this shouldn't be a problem to me.
-Updates to come.
